Atle Monrad has a vast experience, working for 3GPP with mobile telephony systems and cellular standards since February 1988. Atle Monrad received a B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and an M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science in 2001.

Since 2009, Atle is working as part of Ericsson’s Group Function Technology and Portfolio Management with a key role in Ericsson group wide standardization activities. He has served as Chairman of 3GPP TSG CT since March 2011 and working group Chairman in 3GPP CT1 from 2005 – 2011. He has further been an active participant in 3GPP CN/CT WG1 since 2001. Atle has also for years attended the IETF-meetings and is as 3GPP CT chairman responsible for the 3GPP-IETF coordination and progress of internet-drafts having 3GPP-dependencies.

From 1997 – 2001 Atle worked with type approval of GPRS in ETSI SMG7. In 1996 he worked on the interface between design and customer projects as operational product manager for GSM circuit switched data services. From 1991 – 1995 Atle worked with coordination between design ands operators to secure that projects were delivered according to contracts.

In the period from 1998 – 2009, Atle worked with terminal aspects, and in the period from 1988 – 1997 he worked with core network and system aspects. This has given him the ability to see problems and opportunities both from the core network and terminal point of view.
Atle has been organized in various departments within Ericsson, in many cases as a link between standardization and implementation. He has held various positions as technical leader and standards delegate.
